The 2010 census population was reported as 959 inhabitants.〔(2010 census tables: INEGI ) Retrieved on April 29, 2011〕 ==History== Mission San Juan Bautista was founded on St. John's Day, June 24, 1699, on the Río de Sabinas, 25 miles north of Lampazos, Nuevo León, Mexico. It served 150 Indians of different Coahuiltecan bands. After only 5 months, it was moved and reestablished at present-day Guerrero, Coahuila on January 1, 1700. Among the Native people served by the mission were the Ervipiame.〔Juliana Barr, ''Peace Came in the Form of a Woman: Indians and Spaniards in the Texas Borderlands'' (Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 2007), p. 117〕 In 1703 a Presidio was established at San Juan Bautista.
